Avain postilaatikossa short film – photography

When I found out on Facebook that a short film was being made in my neighbourhood, I immediately had to find out if I could participate as a photographer .

Avain postilaatikossa is a short film shot in the Sairio district of Hämeenlinna in July 2025.

The feel-good farce Avain postilaatikossa is based on real events. It was just over a year ago when the movie happened right in front of Iina’s eyes. “At first I couldn’t understand what had just happened and shortly afterwards I had a freaking hissy fit! The sequence of events was completely absurd!”
It was great to see the whole family and friends coming together to make this idea a reality.
The atmosphere at the location was relaxed and everyone was in a good mood. The children played in the yard during the breaks and the adults enjoyed the warm July summer days – even if some had to wear incredibly warm and heavy costumes.
I photographed the cast and crew of the short film with a set designed by Iina and Oona to fit the theme of the film. I directed each subject to play their own role. Here are a few of those images.
The Avain postilaatikossa short film is currently being edited and will premiere in summer 2026.

Sisters Iina and Oona Sihvonen came up with the idea and wrote the script for the film.

It’s wonderful to have passionate creative people in the neighbourhood!

You can follow the short film on Facebook and Instagram to find out when it will be available for viewing.
The film is produced by Sasu San Productions.
