Miika Soronen, copywriter

Miika Soronen is a professional copywriter who helps companies to increase the revenue of their newsletters with strategic and interesting copy. Of course, I had to ask him if he could tolerate my semi-fluent Finnish – I don’t want to hurt the ears of a person who loves words so passionately.

But Miika was really lovely and encouraged me to continue in Finnish.

Big impact in a small room

Miika suggested that the photos be taken in his office. I immediately liked the idea, because the client’s own working environment always adds character and a unique vibe to the photos that can’t be staged. And I’m not at all afraid to go into a completely new space to shoot without a seeing it beforehand. On the contrary 🙂 i enjoy that little challenge.

The day before the shoot, however, Miika asked if his office would really work for the shoot, as he said it was quite small (he used the word “cramped”). He took a picture with his phone to show the space. And yes, his office is a small room – but that’s just fine! A small space is often easier to light than a big one.

Efficient and easy photography

When I arrived on site, it took maybe five minutes to set up the light – while Miika and I had a light, good-humoured chat. I asked him to sit, stand, write… and finally I changed the background to give the pictures a slightly more dramatic and elegant feel.

Even though I asked him more questions about his work, the whole package was ready in 45 minutes. And Miika got to spend the afternoon with his family.

I delivered Miika’s photos the same day, and he immediately changed his profile picture on social media. Honestly, this is one of my favourite things to see!
