The power of photography to support a good cause
The charity photography for the Kanta-Häme Memory Association was an important project for me personally. I was able to take personal and group photos of the association’s team – and at the same time support the valuable work they do for people with memory problems and their loved ones.
I wanted to support this organization because my father suffered from memory loss before he passed away. This is why memory work is a matter close to my heart. This charity photography project gave me the opportunity to combine my skills with a sense of being able to help.
Kanta-Hämeen Muistiyhdistys ry – important work for memory health
For me, it’s important that I can use the skills I’ve learned with the camera and the lights for good. Photography is not just a job – it’s also a way to make a difference and give something back to the community. This project was personally meaningful to me.
The Kanta-Häme Memory Association supports people with memory loss, their relatives and those interested in memory health. The association offers free counselling and advice on memory issues, peer support for people in the same situation, and various lectures, training and courses. They also provide low-threshold meeting places through group activities and memory cafés. The activities cover the whole of the Kanta-Häme region and aim to promote well-being, equality and a good life for people with memory problems and their loved ones.
The association also lobbies to improve the prevention and early detection of memory disorders and is active in the county’s networks. Their work is based on genuine encounter, listening and trust.
Through photography, I wanted to contribute to this important work. For me, charity photography is a way to combine my passion for photography with my desire to help. I hope that the photos will bring joy and strengthen the sense of community in the association’s activities.
