I was recently asked to do a photo shoot for a client who is a coach, and I was immediately impressed.
Hanna Tuominen is a coach who helps people to cope better, overcome mental obstacles and find their own resources – both at work and in life.
From the very first moment, I had the feeling that we were doing something special.
Coach photography – images of presence, power and authenticity
Our day was designed with her in mind.
No stiff posing or unrealistic situations, just real action, joy and colour. We started with a coaching session where she was in her element: calm, listening and present. It was fascinating to watch how she meets people – gently but firmly, creating space for insights and growth.
We then moved on to one of the most interesting locations I’ve ever been to: the colour splash room.
What’s a colour splash?
It’s a space made entirely for creativity and playfulness.
It’s a room where you can splash colour, experiment with different tools and throw yourself in without any rules. Let’s get messy! And you don’t have to clean up after yourself!
Sound a bit like childhood? That’s why it’s so wonderful. We’ve often been taught that you can’t waste colour, you have to do everything neatly and correctly – but in colour splashing you can do anything. There is no right or wrong.
Shooting there was hilarious and liberating at the same time. Colours, laughing, and there was something you couldn’t stage in the pictures. Pure joy.
In the middle of nature, as yourself
Finally, we took some photos outside. Nature is a place where many of us breathe a little more freely – and so did Hanna. We chatted, walked along quiet paths and I just took the camera along.
At this point in the shoot, it felt like everything that was unnecessary had been stripped away.
There was just light, air and a person at peace with themselves.
Photos that let you be the whole person
The end result was images with colour, power and sensitivity.
Images that show not only professionalism, but also heart. She does her job so that people are truly heard and seen – and hopefully these photos do the same for her.
